Julius Dittmann – Keep pushing & smile

There were certain claims that caught my attention – that inspired me. At 15 produced skateboard how-to videos on VHS, at 17 taught myself programming or at 30 skated the MegaRamp quarter…

The claims ThankYouSkateboarding, TodayIsTheDay, GetShitDone or LetTheGoodTimesRoll accompanied the path. Those claims have a certain magic – it seemed to me that they have a deeper meaning. They are like a mantra.

It took a while… until I realized how they are connected. How they all lead to one mindset – one attitude.

KEEP PUSHING & SMILE
…and soon it turned into a mission statement.

There is a philosophy deeply rooted in Skateboarding. Most who skate know it – it's way more than just rolling on this wooden toy.

It’s so hard to describe. This feeling, this attitude, is so precious. And it’s worth spreading into the world.

The skateboarding mindset in times of AI

Nowadays AI solves average problems better than an average human.

It’s not enough to be good anymore. From now on people out there only pay for excellent. For the stuff that is above average.

In the past a 2 or grade B has been good. For a 2 nobody pays anymore. A 2 is 25 USD a month for Claude, ChatGPT and co. We have to use each chance to develop from a 2 to a 1. Getting better step by step. Being better than yesterday.

In the future it needs a different mindset, a different kind of mentality. For companies – and for employees.

It’s about way more than data, facts and revenue. It’s about how it gets people moving.

Sparring

1:1 for entrepreneurs and managing shareholders

An outside view from someone who has been there himself: as a successor in a family business, managing director and shareholder.

Succession in family businesses

Succession is more than a handover. It is about responsibility, clear roles and finding your own way in the company.

I have been running TITUS, a family business founded in 1978, since 2010. I know the questions that come up:

What stays, what changes?
How are decisions made between family and management?
And how do you find your own role while building on what exists?

  • Clarifying roles between founder, successor and shareholders
  • Developing the legacy instead of just managing it
  • Making decisions together with the family

AI in traditional companies

AI solves average problems better than an average human. So what still makes your company special?

Many traditional companies know they have to do something with AI, but not where to start. In sparring we find the first applications that really pay off, and a way to take the whole team along instead of unsettling it.

  • Finding the first use cases that make sense
  • Involving employees instead of running them over
  • The right mindset: AI as a tool, not a substitute for excellence

Strategic sparring for managing shareholders: an objective view from the shareholder’s side, alongside restructuring experts and administrators. In sparring, we keep the creditors’ interests in view and align them with the company’s future.

  • Liability risks: what managing directors and shareholders need to watch out for
  • Leading the team through uncertainty
  • When and how to talk to restructuring experts, turnaround managers and the court-appointed trustee

Change management

Change succeeds when people come along. That is when a strategy turns into movement.

A traditional company holds decades of experience. That is a strong foundation to build on: with clear words, patience and a crew that understands why. I have led such changes myself, from the new webshop to repositioning the company.

  • Explaining change and sparking enthusiasm
  • Winning key people early
  • Finding the right pace so everyone comes along

Community brands

A strong brand is about far more than products. What matters is how it moves people.

Skateboarding lives on scene, attitude and trust. At TITUS I see every day how much depends on it. In sparring we look at your brand:

What does it stand for?
Who belongs to it?
And how do customers turn into a community that speaks for you?

  • Sharpening the brand core and its attitude
  • Events, content and collaborations that fit the scene
  • Building a community without selling it out

Multichannel retail

Store, webshop, D2C, marketplace, B2B: every channel wants something different. The trick is making them stronger together than alone.

I know how stores, webshop, D2C and wholesale work together, with business from Scandinavia to Asia. I know where it grinds in practice: prices, stock, data and responsibilities.

  • Steering channels together instead of against each other
  • One picture of data, stock and prices
  • Setting priorities: which channel really makes money?

Press

Growing up behind the counter of a skate shop has consequences. The mindset of this movement runs through every part of life: as a skateboarder, entrepreneur and family man.

Learned to code at 17, became an entrepreneur at 22, took over the family business TITUS a few years later. In between and to this day: skateboarding. Building spots, skating contests, writing children’s books about the Little Skate Rats.

The feeling that comes with skateboarding, this attitude to life, is so valuable. It is worth carrying this philosophy into the world and sharing it. On stage, in sparring and everywhere else.
